AGENCY FOR WIND AND SOLAR ENERGY
The Wind and Solar Energy Agency is committed to the environmentally friendly use of wind and solar energy. As an interface between science, practice and politics, we support the energy transition with well-founded analyses, specialist information and practical action aids.
The Wind and Solar Energy Agency is a registered, non-profit association that was founded in 2013 on the initiative of the federal government. Our members are the federal government, the federal states, municipal umbrella organizations, business and nature conservation associations and companies. Thanks to this unique membership structure, we are a link between stakeholder groups at different levels of action in the field of onshore wind energy and solar energy. We operate at the interface between science and practice.
The association's office is located in Berlin. After initially focusing on onshore wind energy, we expanded our range of topics to include ground-mounted photovoltaic systems in 2023.
Goals
The aim of the association is to support the environmentally friendly use of these forms of energy, whereby our work is based on well-founded facts, case law and scientific findings. Our activities are geared towards the European Union's climate target.
Activities
To this end, we produce comprehensive analyses and handouts. Our publications include data, time series, graphics, interactive map apps and reviews of court rulings. We also offer events. These various formats provide information, convey findings from research and practice and classify facts. In this way, we help stakeholders to designate sufficient areas and carry out approval procedures efficiently.
Main topics
We work on the topics of planning and approval, nature and species conservation, energy industry and EEG, acceptance and participation. This also includes legal issues. We provide information on the legal framework, court rulings, obstacles and dismantling, recycling or continued operation.
Target groups
The results of our work are aimed at people in administration and politics at federal and state level as well as state energy agencies. We address associations in the energy industry, nature conservation and local authorities as well as energy companies.
